Sinful Colors: Show Me The Way

Happy Superbowl Sunday!!!

I could've done a football mani but since none of my teams made it to the game I'm gonna go with a green polish today.  (However, I do have a mini crush on the Steeler's coach  so I'm rooting for them.)

1 coat of OPI Basecoat for Natural Nails, 3 coats of Show Me the Way, 1 coat of Seche Vite

Show Me The Way is a yellow-toned green with tiny blue flecks. On the nail the polish has a subtle blue sparkle. I've heard this color described as Mossy Green but when I see it I think it looks like a peridot gemstone.  Since I'm an August baby I have a soft spot for peridot.
Not my usual, but Nice!!! (Dr. Horrible fans will get that joke)

The formula on this was good.  It took three coats to get it completely covered  but then Sinful Colors polishes usually need three coats.  For under two dollars I can deal with the opacity issues.

In this pic you can see the blue flecks floating in the bottle. (click for the full size picture)

 I know it looks like I have tipwear in the above pic but it's not the polish it's actually shrinkage from using the fastdry topcoat.

Look how pretty this shade looks with my peridot ring!

My verdict:  I love the color but it is a little bright for me. It's a great shade to wear when you want a splash of color.

Luci learns to use her camera..

Hello there!

Well, I'm trying to learn how to use my camera to take non-fuzzy in focus swatches, but right now I may be asking for too much.

So, I, like thousands others, took advantage of Zoya's Facebook 3 free promotion.  I just have to shout out to Zoya, how awesome that they did that!  I was already a fan prior to the giveaway, but now I'm obsessively checking their website and adding to my bag for my next purchase!  As someone who has an extensive retail background, I want to congratulate the Zoya marketing team for their evil, evil ploy.  Nicely done.  I and many others will be back.

Zoya Cheryl

Cheryl came out  Fall of 2010 as part of the Wicked and Wonderful collection.  Little side note, totally squealed when I realized that all of the colors were named after either Dancing With The Stars judges/professionals or winners.  I am such a geek.

Cheryl was fully opaque in two coats, and this photo has no base or top coat.  Cheryl is a beautiful rich brown shimmer that is just amazing.  Honestly, brown is one of my least favorite colors, but this is freaking gorgeous.  It can almost make me change my mind about brown.  Almost.  This is an exception.  Formula was great, and I will say this more than once, but Zoya has ruined me with their awesome opacity. 

Zoya Valerie

 

Valerie is part of the Flame Collection, which came out winter of 2010.  I cannot even begin to say enough about this color!  This is by far my favorite Zoya color.  I'm gonna guess for all eternity.  But I'm a dragon and easily distracted so that statement may change.

Again the opacity was great with two coats.  It's a magenta-y/purple with a shimmer and it is just gorgeous.  There's a golden duochrome in the bottle that doesn't really come out on the nail, but I don't care.  It is just awesome.  This is in the same collection as Sarah, and that is in my next order.  I'm hoping it becomes my favorite red EVAH!

Zoya Anastasia

Hi guys,
This is my very first blog post ever so please be gentle with me. /sweat

Today I have Zoya's Anastasia from their Magique collection.  I was lucky enough to win this during Zoya's random fan giveaway on their facebook page.  Let me tell you it is gorgeous!!!

I used 1 coat of Zoya anchor, 2 coats of Anastasia followed by a thin layer of Zoya Armor, then Seche Vite

 The Zoya website describes Anastasia as: A warm brown with strong purple tones with golden plum duochrome and heavy gold microglitter. 


I love this polish!!! It went on smoothly and was opaque in two coats. The brown and purple duochrome is a really pretty combo that's perfect for the winter months while the microglitter keeps it from being boring.

In this pic you can see a bit of the purple tones peeking out. Shiny!!!!

It's so pretty it makes me want to do the happy dance!!! 

I know this pic is kinda dark but it really shows how brown Anastasia can appear as well as some of the gold tones.

All in all this shade is definitely going in my keeper pile.
I'm really starting to crush on Zoya as a company.  Their polishes are Big 3 Free, their giveaways are the best I've seen so far and the Zoya Fairy (their title not mine) who maintains their Facebook page is pretty entertaining.
